Getting Fit

In high school, I could eat tons and tons of food and never gained a pound. Sadly, those habits stuck around but my metabolism slowed way down. Now if I eat all the crap I used to, I just put on the pounds and it seems to take forever to take them off again.

I honestly don't mind the way my body looks. Sure, my body is more soft than toned and there are definitely parts I want to change but I don't hate it. What I do hate however is how I currently feel in my clothes. I feel fine in my undies but once I put clothes on, I feel very uncomfortable and all that body love goes out the window. At the moment, the only things that really fit me in my closet are jeans, tees, and a couple of knit dresses. This has become my uniform and I'm sick of it! I have so many cute clothes that I can't wear and I refuse to buy new stuff. Which leaves one plan of action and that is to lose weight and shape up.

I'll be posting in the following days and weeks about what I'm doing as far as eating and exercising. Since my brain always go towards fashion, how about we start off with a couple of cute gym outfits? The top one is misses sized and the bottom one is plus sized. There is no excuse to go to the gym looking dumpy! As usual, everything is under $50, including the shoes! I went with New Balance for the shoes because they are my favorite brand and both Wendy and I wear them.

Now that you have your outfit, go out and get it sweaty!

  1. I so hear you! I have had the same sort of thing - my metabolism slowed way down once I got into my thirties, and then I developed low thyroid, which makes it harder to drop pounds and gives you low energy which makes it even harder! I've been on the DASH diet for about six weeks now, and so far I've lost 14 pounds. I'm feeling pretty good about it, although I definitely miss eating lots of cheese. :)

  2. I had the same problem with eating too much after my metabolism slowed down. I actually will be starting a Happy! Healthy! Challenge over on my blog next week, and people are starting to sign up now. It's free and there'll be cool prizes at the end, if we can get people participating. Check it out! :) http://scissorsandsteam.blogspot.com/2012/06/happy-healthy-challenge-link-party-week.html

  4. I'm more inspired to work out when I have a cute outfit to do it in! I also have clothes that I don't wear because of 'soft areas', and I'm determined to wear it again but it ain't gonna happen over night! ;)
